BOOKING
What is your cancellation policy?
At arcana, we strive to accommodate our guests’ needs while also maintaining a cancellation policy necessary to maintain the nature of our property. We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, and we want to work with you to find the best solution possible. Here’s our cancellation policy:
- If you cancel 6 months or more before your stay, you will receive a full refund.
- If you cancel at least 30 days before your stay, we will provide a 50% refund.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund for cancellations made within 30 days of your stay.
- If you need to change the dates of your stay, we kindly ask you to follow our cancellation policy. Your original booking will be cancelled accordingly.
We genuinely appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we’re here to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
What if I need to reschedule my stay?
Any changes to your booking dates are subject to our cancellation policy above and may be considered a new booking. To modify your booking, please email our team by replying to your booking confirmation email.
Do you have a waitlist?
We understand a connection to the outdoors is fundamental. While we don’t have a waitlist, you can subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know when we open new availability.
Is there a minimum length of stay?
We have a minimum stay of two nights as we strongly believe you need at least that much time to unwind and really sink into the magic of the wilderness.
Can I bring my pet?
To ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, we kindly request that you adhere to the following guidelines:
- For the comfort and safety of everyone, please refrain from leaving your dog unattended in your cabin.
- As responsible pet owners, we ask that you clean up after your dog and keep them on a leash whenever you venture outside.
- Given the intimate nature of our cabins, we can only accommodate one dog per booking.
- Regrettably, we are unable to accommodate cats or other animals at this time.
Can I bring my child?
Finding that connection with the wild is important at any age. That being said, our cabins are specifically designed with solo travellers and couples in mind and, unfortunately, are not childproofed. All guests staying in the cabin must be 18 years of age or older.
Do you have a security deposit?
We don’t collect a security deposit upfront, but we do need a credit card on file in case of incidentals. On the day of your check-in, we may run a small authorization charge to your credit card to confirm the credit card on file.
CABIN
How big are your cabins?
Our cabins are 275 square feet and are designed to sleep up to two adults. Created with our natural environment in mind, the cabin is designed with minimal yet purposeful features. The result is a serene space that feels elevated and special, but doesn’t distract from the point of your stay: time spent in nature.
What’s included with my stay?
Your booking includes everything you’ll need to experience the wild. We provide fresh linens, plush towels, full toiletries, running water, cooking essentials, and yes, even wifi. Outside the cabin, you have access to a private area with a fire pit and outdoor seating (firewood included), as well as access to a sauna, our central pavilion, the lake, and 10+km of marked trails.
What’s inside the kitchen?
Our cabin has a fully-equipped kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge, stove, oven, and microwave. We also provide all the cooking essentials (cooking oil, salt, pots, pans, knives, cutting board, scissors, can opener, spatula, spoon, tongs, ladle, whisk, oven mitts, bottle opener, dish soap, sponge, paper towel, tinfoil), as well as dishes and utensils to help you prepare meals in the cabin.
Do your cabins have private bathrooms and hot showers?
Your cabin is outfitted with a private indoor bathroom with a rainfall shower, sink, and water closet with a flush toilet. We also provide towels, organic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, and body lotion) from Sangre de Fruta, and a premium hairdryer.
How private are the cabins?
All of our cabins are thoughtfully spaced out to respect your search for solitude and privacy. At arcana Muskoka we have 23 cabins on the property and access to 160 acres of land.
Will there be wifi and cell reception at the cabin?
While we encourage you to disconnect as much as you need during your stay, we know there are times you need to stay connected. Our cabins are fully equipped with wifi, and reliable cell phone reception, depending on your carrier.
Can I smoke in the cabin?
We have a strict no smoking policy indoors (including e-cigarettes, vaping, and cannabis) as the interior materials of the cabin are sensitive to smoke. We kindly ask that you please smoke outdoors away from any open windows or doors. Any guests who violate this policy will be charged $550 CAD.
How are the cabins secured?
Our cabins are fully secured with a digital keypad with an access code that we change between every guest.
PREPARATION
How does check-in and check-out work?
You’re welcome to check into your cabin anytime after 3pm. You’ll receive all the details you need for check-in, including the access code for your cabin, two days before your stay.
Check-out is any time before 11am and all you need to do is lock the door behind you.
Can I drive right up to the cabin?
We’re committed to providing solitude at your cabin. Our designated parking areas are within a 1-3 minute walk from your car to the cabin.
What should I pack?
We suggest packing everything into a weekender or carry-on bag to make best use of the space inside the cabin. Best brought are your clothes, a sturdy pair of running shoes or hiking boots, your bathing suit, and overnight essentials. Make sure to look at the local weather forecast and don’t forget sunscreen and rain gear if it’s expected to rain.
We’ve got you covered with all the other essentials: fresh bedding, towels, toiletries (organic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, and lotion from our friends at Sangre de Fruta), hairdryer, and even firewood and firestarter.
Do I need to bring my own firewood?
No need to bring your own – we’ve got you covered on firewood, firestarter, and a lighter. Just light and enjoy the sensorial experience. The only exception is when there’s a county-mandated fire ban in place. During these times, campfires are not allowed.
Should I stay on site during my stay?
We highly recommend you put the car keys away once you arrive. Research shows that it is time immersed in nature that is the antidote for stress and lowering blood pressure. While there’s nothing stopping you from leaving, we have a feeling you won’t want to.
Who else will be there?
There are 23 cabins in total on the property that are intentionally placed for solitude apart. Check in is self guided, so there’s no front desk to interact with and we offer private bookings for our shared amenities.
Wait, what am I going to eat?
We’ve partnered with Chef’s Daniel Hadida and Eric Roberston of Restaurant Pearl Morissette to bring you a curated food journey of seasonally-inspired cook-and-serve meals for your entire stay at arcana.
You’ll be able to add this food experience in advance of your stay, with all food waiting for you in your cabin upon arrival. If you didn’t select this option during booking, but are interested in doing so, please respond to us via email to your booking confirmation and we can add this experience on.
How can I see the menu?
You will receive a printed menu of your food journey upon arrival in your cabin. Please note any dietary restrictions upon booking and we will do our best to accommodate. We work hard to source fresh, seasonal ingredients throughout the year which means that menu items are subject to change based on what’s local and in season.
Do you have EV Chargers?
Yes, we have four EV chargers in our designated parking space.
